Mark Your Calendars: This Is, Once Again, Your Year

Where It All Began

Back in January of 2019, I shared my first calendar screensavers on Instagram. For the next 3 years, I had a consistent monthly practice to create something fun and free, a mutually beneficial passion project that kept my creative juices flowing and gave my Instafriends something to look forward to.

When I shared the monthly calendars to Pinterest, they took off. As a result, my website traffic became more consistent, and ever since, I've been regularly working with clients all over the United States. All because of these silly little wallpapers.

Making It Real

In 2022, I created a physical desk calendar, earning a profit for the first time on this years long commitment. I called it "This Is My Year", a cheeky callback to a 2020 mantra wallpaper gone awry (was 2020 anyone's year, really?).

By 2023, each month's design was released as a seamless pattern in my Spoonflower shop. I did it all again in 2024, and this year when it came time for 2025's product design, I decided to try something new.

Turning the Page

The previous design was a set of 5" x 7" prints that leaned against a birch stand, a quick reference calendar that looked good on a desk. They were certainly cute, but if you're like, a real calendar user, they're inefficient. Over the years I've received requests to create a larger calendar with room to mark important dates, and after some product research, I'm finally delivering!

2025's calendar is a full 11" x 17" portrait, with an 8" x 10" art print at the top and a functional calendar below. When the month is over, I hope customers will tear out their favorite pages from the spiral ring and trim down the prints to reuse however they want: frame 'em, gift 'em, fold 'em into paper cranes, tack 'em to the wall you'll eventually cover in wallpaper as inspiration... whatever it takes to slow its inevitable journey to a recycling bin.

A Better Fit

I'm hoping this new format feels good for both of us. For you, it’s $10 cheaper than last year’s, ships faster, and is far more functional. For me, drop-shipping this product means I don’t have to spend time assembling or storing inventory, freeing up time and precious studio space. I'm able to fulfill your orders from anywhere during this busy holiday season.

The larger format was also uniquely motivating, and I do love a good parameter. The 8" x 10" prints had to stand on their own, while still being scalable to become a repeat pattern. An art print and a repeat pattern are not always compatible, which is why 2025's twelve original designs have a stronger illustrative voice, adding a bit more life into my portfolio and onto your walls.

Pattern Play

Take a look at how these patterns play together, and if any combination catches your eye, you can find them all on a variety of fabrics and home goods in my Spoonflower shop!*

*2025's full collection and digital downloads will be made available January 1, 2025.

The dream for Love Nest has always been to marry my love for graphic prints with my interior design roots. And each year, I'm a step closer. I now have a collection of 48 patterns (and counting!), and the more I create, the easier it is to fill in the blanks for what is still needed.

Imagining the year ahead in colors and shapes is a creative ritual that I look forward to, and I'm grateful to have a space to share it with you.

Here's to 2025—fingers crossed it's really yours this time!! And if not, you know where to find me for the next year.
